
The Council’s principal function is the support of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families through advocating for needed improvements and changes in the service system. Among the Council’s many activities are:
An annual training program designed to teach class members how to participate in developing
effective policies, programs and services for individuals with disabilities and their families.
A yearly event where participants are encouraged to learn about the latest innovations in service and support programs;
Council funded projects in which the primary objective is to improve employment, transitional assistance, supported living, education and training programs and other person-centered services.
Provides information on resources, programs, services and supports available from national, state,
and local organizations.
The DD Council conducts regular quarterly meetings on the third Thursday of March, June and
December. The September meeting is usually conducted in conjunction with the State DD Conference.
Other meetings may be conducted as well.
