Grants & Projects

Grants & ProjectsIn the short and long term, DDC’s primary objective is to invest in success. This means the Council invests in programs that help foster personal independence; enhance educational opportunities, improve access to family supports and services and increase employment opportunities available to people with developmental disabilities. Specifically, the Council funds grants and projects that:

  • Raise awareness and understanding of the many issues faced by individuals with developmental disabilities;

  • Assist people with disabilities in advocating for accessibility in the community, including transportation, housing, schools and recreational facilities;

  • Work with other government agencies and not-for-profit organizations to increase educational, employment and social opportunities for people with disabilities, and

  • Educate people with disabilities and their families about how they can advocate for themselves.
